Tried that since it's in the wiki.  But I got the same behavior.  When
I traced the problem into the kernel code, it looked like the i2c
communication wasn't working.  Perhaps that is how the eeprom is being
checked?  My guess is that all the pins were connected except for the
i2c ones and reinserting the card seemed to fix it.
