I've done basic testing of ATSC functions of the cx18 driver with my
HVR-1600:

1. Fedora 7's scandvb found all the stations I expected it to find. OK.

2. mplayer plays the 720p 16:9 stations nicely, but bombs out with a
gripe about liba52 CRC error. mplayer also doesn't display the
1900x1080 stations nicely at all on my 1280x1024 display (go figure) and
also bombs out with a gripe about the liba52 CRC error after a while. I
never gave mplayer any hints on how to play the sound or scale the
image. For stations with no sound (e.g. weather radar), mplayer never
bombs out.

The a52 CRC errors did not correspond to any uncorrectable errors as
reported by the scrolling azap output.

I haven't updated mplayer and related libraries in a long time (I hate
my dial-up), but I guess it's time. This is probably just a user-space
and user problem.

3. I haven't setup MythTV yet to use the ATSC portion of the card. My
version of MythTV is fairly old and in it's global settings it asks for
the TV standard NTSC or ATSC. I need to figure out how to setup my old
MythTV for the hybrid setup, and/or upgrade MythTV.

Again, user-space and user problems.

When I resolve my user-space issues, get a new 4 way splitter, and make
some new cables, I'll do some simultaneous stream testing.

Thanks for your continued efforts.

Regards,
Andy
