Meant the /lib/firmware/v4l.........fw ;)
Upgrading would be a good idea and using the in kernel modules works 
easily like Sander told you :)

I didn;t need to explicitly compile ivtv and download firmware, it was 
there in the stock install of ubuntu 7.04. I think/hope you get the same 
kernel as on i386/x64.
