Jeff, I've compiled it like this:
LIRC_OPTS="--with-x --with-driver=hauppauge --with-major=61 --with-port=none --with-irq=none" emerge lirc Then change LIRCD_OPTS in /etc/conf.d/lircd to --device=/dev/lirc/0 my /etc/modules.autoload/kernel-2.6 files contains this: i2c_dev lirc_dev lirc_i2c ivtv With this the remote works for me.
