anyone on the mytv mailing list will not doubt have seen me with this problem but its doing my head in...
I've got an
ASRock motherboard
512mb RAM
Soundblaster Live
40GB IDE HD
and 2 PVR 250's....
I run mythtv 0.17 under FC3 following jarrods guide.
I've tried every bit of advice available with no avail so i thought i'd ask you guys.
Every 40 minutes or so (often when recording but not always) my box just freezes solid normally with a high piched tone coming through my speakers. I can't ssh in and only a hard reboot restores it.
I've got a few ideas as to why my this may be occuring, but haven't had time to test them out, I just wondered if anyone else had had the same problem.
I've had a problem with one cards sound quality, which was having distortion problems, but I found a link
http://www.shspvr.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=5241&postdays=0&postorder=asc&highlight=pvr%20250%20sound&start=30
that told me to put a fan on the card which I did and it solved my sound problems, but this may indicate a dodgy card.
It may be a irq problem, here's my cat /proc/interrupts(the bit that matters):
10: 38276 XT-PIC EMU10K1, ivtv0, uhci_hcd
11: 60790 XT-PIC eth0, ivtv1, uhci_hcd, nvidia
I thought it may be a APIC, ACPI etc problem but I've turned all that off(as far as i know) and still no joy.
I've tried ssh'ing in and 'tail -f' on /var/log/mythtv/mythbackend.log and /var/messages but neither print anything at all when a crash occurs so they're of no use whatsoever
I've attached my dmesg, file for further reading Any ideas please it really getting on my nerves. Thanks Tom
