Hi,

I'm currently running out of options of what I can do to get the tuner to work for me. On a freshly installed stock 2.6.11.2 (with or without v4l2 patches) and on a 2.4.29 kernel I can get ivtv modules to compile and recognise the card and the chips, but somehow I don't get a picture.

I've browsed the archives and google. but either was too dump to find the correct infos or I am simply overlooking something since I started with ivtv about 3 days ago.

After compiling the kernel and ivtv and installing its modules, I added

alias char-major-81 videodev
alias char-major-81-0 ivtv
options ivtv
options tuner
options msp3400 once=1 simple=1 debug=0
options saa7115 debug=0
add below ivtv msp3400 saa7115 tuner

to my /etc/modules.conf (in fact to /etc/moutils/ivtv + update-modules on this debian testing box).

modprobe ivtv gives me

So far so good. Since I live in PAL land (Germany) I'm using ivtvctl to set everything to pal and use ptune.pl to select a channel (being here on cable):
/ptune.pl --debug --freqtable pal-europe --tuner-num 0 --channel SE16
Debug = '1'
FrequencyTable = 'pal-europe'
TunerNum = '0'

As far as I can tell, everything looks ok. But if I use mplayer in /dev/video0 or cat the stuff to a file and play that I get only blackish statics. I played a bit with the tuning frequencies and around a channel the static changes a bit, but not much. Sometimes there is also a hint of colorish statics.

Speaking of statics: The card works fine under windows, i.e. my cabling is not screwed up, but the statics under Windows look like "standard statics" on a TV, i.e. dark and bright spots. The statics I can see under linux with ivtv are mostly black with a few dark gray 'statics'.

Anyone here, who can give me a hint, what I'm missing here?

Cheers

Carsten
