hello, my system runs debian/amd64 (unstable), the ivtv 0.3.0o drivers and utils and mythtv 0.17 debian packages from Matt Zimmermann, rebuilt with mysql 4.0 and --cc=gcc-3.4 -march=k8.
'cat /dev/video0 > my.mpg' produces snow, so i believe that ivtv drivers are loaded correctly. i've attached modprobe ivtv output. /etc/modutils/ivtv includes: alias char-major-61 lirc_i2c alias char-major-81 videodev alias char-major-81-0 ivtv options ivtv ivtv_debug=1 ivtv_pal=1 tuner=5 options tuner pal=1 options saa7127 enable_output=1 output_select=0 pal=1 options msp3400 once=1 simple=1 add below ivtv msp3400 saa7115 saa7127 tuner add above ivtv lirc_dev lirc_i2c ivtv-fb post-install ivtv /usr/local/bin/ivtvctl -u 0xff i believe that mythtv is setup correctly, i ran mythtv-setup, tv_grab_de_tvtoday and mythfilldatabase --manual. mythtv-backend runs correctly, and mythfrontend seems to connect to it. i linked the tuner to my tvtoday source, and set tuner as default stream source. nevertheless if i choose to view television in mythfrontend, i see nothing more than a black screen. mythtv hangs and only kill helps. /var/log/mythtv/mythbackend.log logs: 2005-03-27 01:56:50.869 mythbackend: Running housekeeping thread 2005-03-27 01:56:59.041 MainServer::HandleAnnounce Playback 2005-03-27 01:56:59.043 adding: resivo as a client (events: 0) 2005-03-27 01:56:59.056 MainServer::HandleAnnounce Playback 2005-03-27 01:56:59.058 adding: resivo as a client (events: 1) 2005-03-27 01:56:59.066 MainServer::HandleAnnounce Playback 2005-03-27 01:56:59.067 adding: resivo as a client (events: 0) 2005-03-27 01:56:59.217 MainServer::HandleAnnounce Playback 2005-03-27 01:56:59.219 adding: resivo as a client (events: 0) 2005-03-27 01:56:59.224 adding: resivo as a remote ringbuffer 2005-03-27 01:56:59.232 Changing from None to WatchingLiveTV and the console where mythfrontend runs (as user jonas, who is member of group mythtv): 2005-03-27 01:56:59.029 Connecting to backend server: 127.0.0.1:6543 (try 1 of 5) 2005-03-27 01:56:59.036 Using protocol version 14 2005-03-27 01:56:59.061 Using protocol version 14 2005-03-27 01:56:59.277 Disable DPMS i've heard that running mythfrontend as root helps, and that this is an amd64 (build architecture) specific bug, but even as root i see no change. i tried also to record sendings with mythepg, but even these recordings where just black. one or two times, mythtv didn't crash but rather showed a single error message after some minutes of black screen, that sayed that the video decoder couldn't be initialized. i've no glue whether this is a known bug that needs to be fixed in source, or whether i've any chances to fix this on a user level. if the former is true, i'll do some further debugging with gdb, and contact mythtv and ivtv devel lists. but maybe the latter is true, and you can help me? thanks for advice bye jonas
