Over the week-end I've tried to compile the 0.3.7a drivers (easy) and to
build the new ivtvdev driver (hard, see below):

First step: I started with my regular (almost) Debian sarge box and try
to compile the ivtvdev. However, the makefile instructs me to use xmkmf
on the X-sources.. makes sense, but I'm using the binary package.

Second step: Get the source(includes biking to work, downloading and
biking back, unpack it and run xmkmf for ivtvdev

Three: Fix complaints to missing headers by inserting three or four
extra libs into the INCLUDE part of the generated Makefile

Four: Building works, all object files are linked into the
ivtvdev_drv.o, installed it restarted X and voila version 0.10.5
reported to duty.

Five: Hmm, mplayer -vo xv does not work/start. xvinfo tells me, there is
no adaptor present :(

Six: Skimming through the sources.. no idea what went wrong
(I've just seen that if Xv is disabled at compile time the message:
"XVDriver disabled at compilation time" should be displayed, but I don't
recall that one, however, I cannot rule out, that this might be the issue.

Any hints, suggestions what I did wrongly?

Cheers

Carsten
