I live in southern Germany as well, so maybe I can help you with your channel settings. > I installed all parts of ivtv and they basically work. > > When i capture something from /dev/video, i only get > noise. For me the ptune scripts currently do not work, so after figuring out how to set frequencies with ivtvctl (you have to multiply the desired frequency by 16), I wrote a small python qt script for settings the channels. Since I have no idea about how to scan for channels, I decided to cut and paste the channel list from the website of my tv-provider (kabel-deutschland). This ofcourse brought me to the problems of figuring the correct frequencies for a given channel. For the frequencies in the S, SE, E naming scheme I picked a file from freevo as source. The conversion to the S / K numbering of kabel-deutschland I did by try and error, but actually the first attempt worked, thus it might be, that there are no channels with ambiguous naming. But for short I use the folowing association: K1 - K12 -> E1 - E12 K21 - K69 -> 21 - 69 S01 - S20 -> SE1 - SE20 S21 - S41 -> S21 - S41 I have not matched S01- S03 from freevo, but it seems to work. > I use PAL, PAL-europe. I have no modprobe.conf in my system, but I am not quite sure, wether this means, that I have no need for this file currently or wether Debian handles this different. At least at the moment I have only placed ivtv in /etc/modules, since everything is autodected and autloaded correctly. The only problem is, that the eeprom must not be loaded before ivtv, but if necessary you can at least unload it manually before loading ivtv. > > Has anybody got some other hints on how to find the correct > settings? If you know python, I can send you my script, but it is currently not configurable, not very user-friendly, and even worse since I usually use my vcr for switching channels, it will probably remain in this state. Anyway at least the above details should be enough to deduce the desired settings. For the frequency channel mapping you can use the german wikipedia article for kabelfernsehen. regards Sascha ------------------------------------------------------- SF.Net email is sponsored by: Tame your development challenges with Apache's Geronimo App Server.
