Neeraj,

Yes the history is maintained, though not the version numbers on files.
File history is a important piece of information, Good to know that it is maintained.

In SVN revision numbers apply to the entire source tree, not individual files.

Someone was explaining me that each commit increments revision of entire source tree. which also means each revision is like a tag on source tree.. I guess its time to look at
SVN.

Thanks Michael.

Michael,

I was curious to know when converting from cvs 2 svn,
is the history of files maintained ? I skimmed these 2 pages
[1] [2] but couldn't find such exact detail.

My apologies if this has already been discussed.

Frankly I haven't looked at SVN but i hear that it's better CVS.
May be this move will help me to look at the features of SVN :-)

Thanks,
- Neeraj

Hi everyone,

Now that Xerces 2.7.0/2.7.1 have been released things have finally
settled
down in CVS. I think now is an ideal time for the SVN migration.

Both Xerces-C and Xerces-P have successfully moved to SVN and now live here: https://svn.apache.org/repos/asf/xerces/. I propose that we join them (details below).

CVS modules to be converted:

  * xml-xerces/java (full conversion; includes all tags/branches)

Target URL:
https://svn.apache.org/repos/asf/xerces/java/

The desired layout will look like this:

https://svn.apache.org/repos/asf/xerces/java/
+-- branches (xerces-j branches)
+-- tags (xerces-j tags)
+-- trunk (xerces-j HEAD)

To start, here's my +1.
