I intended to use Bibus in this case because it can also cooperate with MS Word/Openoffice for documents that are written in these kind of programs. Unfortunately, one cannot always use latex...
As I described, I had that problem on Windows opening a bibtex file exported from Bibus in UTF-8: http://sourceforge.net/tracker/index.php?func=detail&aid=1968155&group_id=110943&atid=657832 I actually created a bug report because Bubus couldn't export to other encodings like cp1252. Note: For earlier documents I successfully used the JabRef+Lyx combination on Linux and Windows in a crossplattform manner without any problems. Maybe I find time to create a little example file in the next days.
