Hi, > I still agree with your arguments not to support Java 5,
I'm still for migrating to Java 6 or even Java 7. Don't know, which libraries require Java 6. Side note: According to http://www.oracle.com/technetwork/java/eol-135779.html, Java 6 won't be updated starting from next February. > I thought you had to > compile against a Java 5 JDK in order to check compatibility, since the > problem is sometimes with API coverage and not with language level > (isEmpty() vs. the @Override annotation). You're right. > Or does Eclipse have some magic that addresses this? Unfortunately, it doesn't. I was hoping that. In the Java 6 sources, there is a "@since" annotation, but the compiler does not interpret that comment :( > As far as I know, Java 5 isn't even packaged any more in Fedora, and Oracle > requires a login for downloading old versions, so it's not very convenient. For sure, we should not spend any extra effort. Cheers, Oliver ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Everyone hates slow websites. So do we.
