Dear Sven,

unfortunately I don't have any slide, but I have always explained
JabRef to the new researchers and students in our labs. I think that
the Mark approach is the best: live demonstration.

Usually first I give a brief introduction on why the BibTeX/BibLaTeX
approach is better than the thebibliography environment and how
BibTeX/BibLaTeX works with working examples.

Then I introduce JabRef as a better way to manage the .bib file and
then I show the other general advantages (not related to LaTeX):

1. import of citation from journal website
2. help for a researcher: organization (groups, labels), search,
direct link to the pdf, ecc...

Among the advanced topics I thing is very important to show (briefly)
that the integration with other software like OpenOffice/LibreOffice
and Word is possible.
Another important advanced topic is for the people working in a group.
As the .bib file is a simple text file, using a cvs system like svn or
mercurial, all the users can manage the centralized db at the same
time.

Good luck!

Ciao ciao.
