I have a similar trouble like you Nicholas because I use too an old JabRef
version in ubuntu 10.04 LTS, 2.5 I think, but in other pcs I have the last
one, 2.9. I suggest you to back up all your information and upgrade your
Ubuntu because in few weeks (2 months aprox.) our LTS version will expire
and then we must to update it or stay with an old version. Then surely you
can install a newer JabRef version like me.
