Sure. Just drag'n'drop the PDF into JabRef and a dialog appears (see
attachment). You can either choose to import XMP metadata (see
http://help.jabref.org/en/XMPHelp/) or to import based on contents.
That works fine for Springer or IEEE papers and if the first page
contains a DOI. Otherwise, it is not that good. We used to have Mr.
DLib support (http://mr-dlib.org/), but it was dropped as the future
is unclear and we did not have all sources of the interface. We are,
however, in close contact with the Docear team and maybe we can came
up with some other kind of parsing support.
My current workflow is:
- Add entry using the DOI (Web Search -> DOI to BibTeX)
- Drag'n'drop the PDF into the preview panel of the entry
- JabRef then asks to rename the PDF according to the bibtex data
This is a good thing for me, therefore, other things have priority ^^
