Yes, rebasing and upstreaming is really overdue now. You are lagging more than
one release behind, including two Spectre mitigations (likely relevant for your
i.MX8QM). Some patches look like they would benefit from reviews and
discussions. And other features are important to bring forward in order to
ensure that upstream is not working against them. It is also not good when we
claim to support the imx8mq in upstream while it might have been silently 
broken.

Focus must always be on upstream-first. Anything else just breaks sooner or
later, on your side or - even worse - in your customers' hands. Let me know
where I can help.
