my question is whether the datamodel proposal would help or hinder this 
process. it would be a positive benefit if this project could be used to 
develop and evaluate material of which the best ideas could then be fed 
back into torque and texen. on the other hand, if it distracts attention 
and development away from those tools, it would obviously be a bad idea.
