My reason to cast a non-binding vote is to show that there is surely a
necessity for a usable, and complete HttpURLConnection. And there is a
user community out there for it.

My particular itch: we had to make a load test system a while ago. Since
HttpURLConnection is so incomplete, and URLConnection is useless, we had
to resort to writing to and reading from Sockets. Not nice. The oddities
of HTTP 1.1 had me stressed for three days. I already look forward
to using HttpClient in the next project.
