Hi Vasile,

What I did is put your code into context (that is - include
board_16f877a_startersguide.jal to get a quick start with a
configuration and then add code to make your statement work). With
this addition it worked for me.
Supply me with a complete file (if you can, start with a
board-include) that shows your full problem.

The put procedures are the way the compiler passes to put procedures
(LCD is not a var, it is a pseudo-var). These are also used when a
procedure var is defined 'volatile'. That's JAL...

Did Stef use more then 8 chars at the time?

I can't test now, but this probably works okay with me too. It only
uses one custom char at the time.

It does not explain why your display get jabbered. It only explains
why custom chars get erases or changed.

Afaik the lcd lib does not keep track of the cursor position in the
PIC. And when you define a custom char, the cursor position gets
changed and you need to set it back to the visible area, e.g. 0,0, as
a safety measure. Your application code should, after the definition a
custom char, put it at the desired position.

Again,
If you send me a source file that shows the issue and that I can run
with a board file without half an hour work, I'm happy to take a look.
