Hi Joep,

There might be one problem with such soldering station (and those which are
working in analog or RF field knows it).
Temperature control is using a triac which is generating a lot of noise. As
the soldering iron is away from the station at least at 50cm-100cm,the iron
cable act as an antenna for the parasitic triac switching. Since the voltage
is low, the switching current is high, as well the noise.
Good solder stations are using PFM or zero crossing, bad soldering station
are using phase switching.

That compact 220V soldering iron is suffering this problem in a smaller way,
since the current switching is smaller and because is using mostly zero
crossing.

I had over the time all kind of soldering stations from Weller to Chinese,
hot air stations, air flow stabilized or not, american or chinese
manufacturere but almost all have good and bad things...
