Hi guys,
I've done some tests with the new 2.4o-beta compiler.
Among others it changed the handling of _warn and _error messages. A
number of device files (e.g. 16f73) contain a warning for calculations
with variables over 16 bits because these chips have no shared memory
which is needed for this type of calculations. This warning is fixed and
issued always, even when the program does not use this type of variables.
The _error and -warn messages were previously not counted for the result
of the compilation, but are now! As a result many samples do not compile
anymore with 0 errors, and 0 warnings!
What shall we do? I think the most sensible option is to remove the
warning from the device files and put it in the devicefile doc.
The disadvantage is that a program may fail without notice because of
this restriction.
A better option would be when the compiler issues a message when a
program actually hits this restriction.
Regards, Rob.
