Is switching of compiler the only difference between the two tests?
If it is a compiler bug you must see different .hex and .asm outputs of
the compiler.
I have not the hardware or measurement equipment on hand to do a quick
test, but I did a compare of the .asm files. I see some differences, but
these do not explain to me the different behaviour.
Theoretically the hex files can have other differences, but that will be
somewhat more work (compare disassembled hex files).
