Hi Rob,
There is a quite good software solution for Pickit3 and Pickit2 called
pickitplus. I'm using this from a while and things looks quite good except
maybe for some minor bugs...:)
They also update the software quite frequently with newer PICs.

BTW, each time someone repairs a bug, at least three others enter
inside...:)
I'm happy I can't read Dutch. :)
