Most of our developers are on OSX, but having a cross-platform solution .. ie Windows, too.. would be best. I guess that means scripts / install path config for multiple platforms? One alternative approach might be to create a docker container that does the cross-compile, and leave it to the developer / build system to make sure they have Docker available.
