Assalamu'alaikum wr wb,
Semoga bermanfaat, wassalam. -------------------- Dear children, Muslims try to remember Allah (subhanahu wa ta'ala) in everything they do, and to ask Allah for forgiveness often. Have you ever wanted to pray to Allah, or ask Him for help, but you do not know what du'a to say? Allah is the Most Merciful. And in His mercy, He has showed us many du'a in the Qur'an. Our dear Prophet Muhammad (saws) also taught us many du'a. Here are some of them. Perhaps you could try to learn them inshaAllah. Prophet Adam learns how to ask forgiveness Remember the story of Prophet Adam and his wife Hawwa (peace be upon them), when Allah commanded them not to eat the fruit from the forbidden tree, but Shaytan persuaded them to eat it? They were very so ashamed that they had disobeyed Allah and they wanted Allah to forgive them. Allah taught them this du'a: "Rabbana zalamna anfusana, wa in lam taghfir lana wa tarhamna la-nakunanna minal-khaasirin." (7:23) "Our Lord! we have been unjust to ourselves, and if You don't forgive us, and have (not) mercy on us, we shall certainly be of the losers." Prophet Ibrahim puts all his trust in Allah . The father of Prophet Ibrahim (as) was an idol worshipper, and so were nearly all the people in his community. It was very difficult for Ibrahim (as), and in the end he and his followers had to make a big sacrifice, by leaving town. You can see just how much he trusted Allah by his du'a: "Rabbana 'alaika tawakkalna wa ilaika anabna, wa ilaikal masir."(60:4) "Our Lord! In You we have placed our trust, and to You do we turn in repentance, for unto You is the end of all journeys." Pray for the good in this life and the Life after Death In the next du'a, Allah is reminding us that we shouldn't just pray for the nice things in life, like knowledge, good health, a place to live, pleasant neighbours or a nice job. We should remember the Life After Death, or Akhirah too. "Rabbana aatina fiddunya hasanatan wa fil aakhirati hasanatan wa Qinaa adhabannar" (2:201) "Our Lord! Give us in this world that which is good and in the Hereafter that which is good, and save us from the torment of the Fire!'" What to say when you are in difficulty. You could never imagine being trapped inside a whale. But when this happened to Prophet Yunus (alaihi salam), at first he thought he was dead, but as he lay there in the dark, he realized he was still alive and kept on praying to Allah: "La ilaha illa anta subhanaka inni kuntu min al-zalimin" (21:87) "There is no God except You. Glory be to You. Truly! I have been a wrong-doer." Allah listens to those who believe in Him, and He commanded the whale to let Prophet Yunus go. Prophet Muhammad (saws) advised us to say this du'a whenever we are in trouble or difficulty. There are lots of other du'as in the Qur'an and the Sunnah. Try to learn some of them, and understand what they mean.
