With all due respect, I'm going to have to say that you are again
missing the point.  It's not three mailets affected.  It's a totally
unknown number of custom mailets that people have written and deployed.
That said...


Given all the discussion, I will be proposing a release plan within the
next 24 hours with the goal of accomplishing the following:

i) Getting a release, finalized 2.1 version that supports the current
Mailet API out the door within the month of October.

ii) Commits to addressing these and other exciting mailet questions in
the release following 2.1.  This means Mailet v.2.

iii) Includes notice of the deprecation of the current mailet API to the
current user base and solicits input from them as to features they'd
like to see in the Mailet API.  A vibrant, active, and totally cordial
discussion will be scheduled for the time immediately after 2.1 general
release.  :)

Hopefully this plan will (possibly with some modification) be able to
attract some consensus and allow us to move forward.
