There was some talk about moving ant out of the cvs, but I don't know if the
committers want to do that before releasing 2.1.

Yes, if you folks are committed to still using it. When 1.4.1 emerged,
most projects ditched internal Ant instances. 1.4.x and 1.5.x for most
projects are interchangable.
