Paul, >I will do some more *investigation* at home, but am this stage I am satisfied that I >am off the >hook. > I've installed JDK 1.4.1 on my second machine with Ant 1.4.1 and Intellij's IDEA (EAP 650). It produces identical results to my primary machine (Ant 1.5, JDK 1.4, TortoiseCVS). i.e. build.bat is modified by the build process. On my primary machine, Tortoise has marked build.bat as changed. On my secondary machine CVS built into Intellij has marked build.bat as changed. In both cases the same change had occurred (line endings). Yes, I was using fresh CVS HEAD.
I'm rationalizing my commitments presently, and that means I bowing out of the JAMES list, and will not be making more commits. I've helped a little in the past and am very pleased to see a new and enthusiastic set of committers on JAMES. There are exciting things happening here and I am looking forward to releases. I hope to bump into Charles again in London, as he is one smart dude. I'll hopefully get him along to eXtreme Tuesday (which I frequently attend). If people are to peddle my opinions in absentia they are : 1) Don't diss Avalon 2) Hold all Apache committers in high regard. 3) Don't confuse Avalon sub-components (FUD) 4) Avalon-Framework for all comps including mailets 5) Phoenix is cool, so is Fortress (coming real soon now). 6) Mailets should be in separate jars in separate classloaders and be hot installable (easy). 7) Shift storage of mail to standard archive formats. 8) Test (unit) first! I trust Stephen McConnell to be the Avalon advocate for JAMES now. Peter Donald (an Avalon and Ant longtimer) is also intermittently here and knows his stuff. These are very smart people and can more or less do anything they set their minds to. Keep up the good work all!!
