Automated builds sound nice for nightly snapshots, but this seems like a question where we need to create a specific release, i.e., specify the version tag in the build process (e.g. 2.x RCy), tag in CVS, then deploy.
Also, if Danny and I are too slow in making the updates to daedalus and Peter is going to be the release manager for the foreseeable future, I would think we could get him an account there.
