IMHO, it is important for james to stay fairly up-to-date with avalon. Getting stuck in a situation where we just can't have the new bugfixes/features because it is too hard to upgrade is *painful*. (I've been there before.) That does not, however, mean that we need to be running against avalon HEAD.

I think that JAMES should make a habit of upgrading to every new stable avalon release. This requires that Avalon does its releases reasonably frequently. It also assumes that avalon releases are not made every day - we might have to skip a few if that happens.
