The lack of a stable Avalon Release is part of the problem that the Avalon
Community is working to resolve.
GUMP can build against a CVS tag (as well as HEAD to provide early warning
of problematic changes), but apparently the version of Avalon we were given
for James isn't even tagged, much less released. That is part of what we're
trying to avoid for the future.
