Absolutely, we did the same for Paul H when he helped us with Phoenix.
I would say that we need to hear on _this_ list, not everyone is actively following 
discussions on avalon-dev.

the former is my prefrence, If the head was changing much, or fast, I'd agree with 
branching, but as its not I don't think a branch is necessary. Having Stephen break 
the head will also encourage us to help him fix it(!).
