Joe,

You might take a look at the code in proposals/imap2.  I haven't looked at
the code.  Basically, the various handlers all work by having a
handleSocket() method, which is coming from Avalon.  I expect that we'll
have to change that eventually to complete the inversion in order to handle
both java.io and java.nio.

I don't want to get bogged down in integration issues, but if there are
benign design decisions that I can make to make my code more
James-friendly I would certainly lean towards them. I don't really know
how to start this conversation though... is there a high-level design
document somewhere (or an e-mail thread) that I can read?
