We run James in Jboss and use (Jboss) JMX to stop and start James, so I expect MX4J should work just as well for this.
I would like to know how you got James into JBoss (and thus, I suppose out of Avalon). Is there documentation somewhere on how to do this? Does this imply that there is some standard contract, between a component like James and a container like Avalon, a standard also supported by JBoss? If so, could someone tell me what that standard is and where it is documented?
