you said "I am using the name of a dns server.." if you really are using a
name, not an IP address, make sure it PING's at James's machine, it could be
a vicious circle, with an unresolvable domain name for DNS you will go
nowhere fast..

In fact make sure it pings even if it's an IP address, where do your
messages end up (spam/spool etc etc) or not on the James server at all?

If not at all Make sure that mail is being routed to your machine, sounds
like a simple point, but may be your problem, perhaps your emails are going
elsewhere.. (due to DNS)

DNS is a topic you can't avoid when talking about mailservers, but its not
rocket science it's just a load of look-up tables scattered willy nilly
round the globe, your machine's network settings will contain DNS server
addresses, and if you get this mail, chances are they work on your network..
