Thanks for the two good suggestions, I had heard about the redhat 7.0/7.1
thing but it had slipped my mind, thats probably the problem, using an older
JRE would be a simpler fix, there are a few users of the machine.

As for the IBM JVM, I know folks, 'specially on the tomcat list, have been
praising it, but I've found hotspot to be consistently faster (using the
finger-in-the-wind benchmarking methodology ;) than the IBM one at running
Tomcat, and I dont really want to have two JVMs installed, it'll only lead
to confusion.
