my sieve like memory fails me again,

looks like its just called 'the java service wrapper'

sourceforge page is

http://sourceforge.net/projects/wrapper/

I've used it for a few small apps and it does the trick,
it also supports unix, restarting the jvm in the event of a crash and such.
