Well the FreeBSD native jdk is ported drom the Sun source, so I don`t know
that everything works correctly, but I can`t seem to get the problem figured
out. Everytime I start it it
starts to go and I get the Phoenix 4 message , it then spits out about a
mile of Avalon related errors. Do I need to move the *.xml files into the
conf directory maybe or do they stay in the SAR-INF. The jamessar expands
just fine.
2.03a on the same machine runs just fine.

I also did a <servername> directive for my domainname.com as well as
host.domainname.com, and set autodetect to false. This is an easy way to
accept messages
both for [EMAIL PROTECTED] and [EMAIL PROTECTED] , and avoid those nasty
wildcarded
MX records.
Maybe I`m slow, but I had a problem understanding how to accomplish that
when I first started using James. I hope it makes it easier for others new
to the project.
I`m documenting my trials and errors so I can offer some easy "getting
started
with James" documentation to help the project grow.
If I drop the 2.1 sar in my apps directory of my 2.03a install will it
upgrade so
to speak ? Or will it merely overwrite and or ignore my config files ?

Adrian

I'm running the CVS HEAD with JDK 1.3. Given that I have an SMP system, the
current Sun JDK has reported problems with SMP, and IBM won't have a 1.4
release until late this year, I'm hoping we can stay on JDK 1.3 for as long
as possible.

Got a new james server up, moving everyone over now. Had to use the 2.0.3a
version,
I get all kinds of errors with the latest binary. On the Free BSD JDK1.3.1 ,
does 2.1 require
1.4 ?
