Randy,

Why what was possible? The crash or the DDoS attack?

I don't know what to tell you about the former. My most recent test of
James pushed 4 million e-mails through it in 40 hours; ~1650 per minute on a
400 mhz Celeron. That included running into the spool manager and linear
processor.

There ought to be an exception in the log (or Phoenix log), unless the JVM
died without warning.

Noel,
I switched from the 2.1a1-cvs-lots-o-debug-stuff that Peter was sending me
to the 2.1a1-cvs from the web site hoping that the crashing was caused by
all the extra debugging James was doing. The crashing stopped but so did the
flood of bounce messages. In fact I've only seen 8 of them today. James has
been very stable since last Sunday. FYI, ev1.net did send me a message
saying that the culprit had been dealt with. Of course that doesn't explain
why it was possible in the first place
