> mv /opt/james-2.1/apps/james /opt/james/apps
renders your
> cp -r /opt/james2.1/apps/james/var /opt/james/apps/james
redundant. The earlier statement MOVED the ENTIRE apps/james/ structure
from the old location to the new one. If you properly perform the move
operation, the second one should fail because the james/var directory is no
longer there.
