Hi,
I have already posted this mail once but no body reply, will any body rely
it now. i need them.
-- i am naive to Linux and Apache stuff.
-- i am not very sure of the configure processes
-- i am in a position to run servlets in Linux based Apache Jserv (my job).
-- i have tried myself for many hours (really many) to install the same.
I have done a latest trial and now i need help for further moves, as i do
not want to really mess up things.
what i have done so far:
*i downloaded apache_1_3_4_tar.tar in dir /usr/local/apache and untar the
same (ie. i now have a dir as /usr/local/apache/apache_1.3.4 )
*i ran configure as follows
/usr/local/apache/apache_1.3.4# configure --prefix=/usr/local/apache \
-
-enable-module=rewrite --enable-share=rewrite \
-
-enable-module=proxy --enable-share=proxy
*i ran ' make ' as follows
/usr/local/apache/apache_1.3.4# make
*i ran ' make install ' as follows
/usr/local/apache/apache_1.3.4# make install
*i made suitable changes in /usr/local/apache/conf/httpd.conf
*i ran /usr/local/apache/bin/apachectl start
httpd was started.
NB: when i said http://hostname in my browser apart from the hyper links to
ApacheWebServer and Documentation, there was this message
If you are seeing this page instead of the site you expected, please contact
the administrator of the site involved. (Try sending mail to
<Webmaster@domain>.) Although this site is running the Apache software it
almost certainly has no other connection to the Apache Group, so please do
not send mail about this site or its contents to the Apache authors. If you
do, your message will be ignored.
?? is something wrong still (i presume apache web server is working)
the contents of my /usr/local/apache are the following
apache_1_3_4_tar.tar, apache_1.3.4, bin, cgi-bin, conf, htdocs, icons,
include, libexec, logs, man, proxy.
NB: my /usr/local/apache/libexec has libproxy.so and mod_rewrite.so
My Doubts:
in dir /usr/local/apache/apache_1.3.4 the following dirs are present apart
form the announcement, install, keys, makefile, readme......
cgi-bin, conf, htdocs, icons, logs, src
NB: /usr/local/apache/apache_1.3.4/src has one more Configure and httpd
with man other files. what does this repetition mean.
Now I want to install ApacheJserv and i am really particular not to mess up
things anymore.
#1. What version of Apache JServ you are using
Apache-JServ-1.0b3_tar.tar
-- is there a favourable directory where i should untar and start ?
#2. What version of Apache you are using
Apache_1.3.4
#3. What OS and OS version you are using
SuSE Linux 6.0
#4. An exact description of what is going wrong (pretend that we are not
there and we cannot see what you are doing). Include any useful log file
output as well.
-- yet to configure ApacheJserv with proper assistance!!
#5. Your Apache JServ configuration in Apache
-- yet to be generated !!
#6 Your JSDK version
jsdk2.0
-- should i put these too in any particular dir
#7 Your Jdk version
jdk1.1.7
-- should i put these too in any particular dir
I am successfully working on servlets for many months in windows
environment. Its my job to switch to Linux. Can anybody help.
Please bear with me if i sound silly, i only request you to read the 2nd
line of this mail.
Thanks for the patience you had to read and to reply.
