<grumble> This is some one hell of a messed up interaction w/ mod_rewrite
(not a problem w/ stat). I'm guessing that mod_rewrite is mucking with
things which it probably shouldn't touch ... I wonder if this is still a
problem w/ the current source for Apache.
Anyway, yes, it is definitely wrong. Thanks for the simple base case.
