The jar file has to be fine because I can use it for anything but
servlets.  Clearly you are right, my setup is hosed somewhere, i just
can't figure out where.  What kills me is that my servlets behave great as
long as I dont try to do jdbc with them.

For the moment gonna grab the new jserv (I'm running a beta3) not because
I think jserv is hosed but because I kinda hope that when I upgrade and
verify everything I'll accidentally find/fix whatever is goofed up.  Argh.
Upgraded mm-mysql already today hoping that it might be that....
