Thanks for the feedback. Unfortunately, this isn't as easy to do in all
situations as you might think. Especially since I could set the permissions
on the directory to the right owner, but you could edit your httpd.conf and
simply change the owner and break things again. ;-( One idea I had was to
set the directory chmod 777, but I figured someone would end up complaining
about that as well.

Instead, my solution was to put a nice message at the end of the configure
process that tells you what to do. Unfortunately, that still doesn't seem to
work since I can't force you to read that message. ;-(

If you have a nice solution that works in all cases, please contribute a
fix. ;-)
