Agreed... Even if the thread library is somehow detached from the GNU C
Library (you can build it stand-alone!), it's better to replace the whole
GLIBC. And, also, in GLIBC 2.1.2 a quite huge amount of bugs were fixed.
Your system will be happier w/ it...
