I have not been on this list for very long but I do know that Jon is a
saint when it comes to his open source contributions and his on-going
support for his projects. I know Jon from another java.apache project,
ECS, and he is just as invaluable on that list. I was simply astonished to
find out that he was also a JServ developer. The amount of time he devotes
to these projects is simply amazing, not only from a development point of
view, but the prompt responses to questions posed on the mailing lists.

IMNSHO, Jon has every right to take offense to the comment made. If his
replies to the list are rude sometimes, put yourself in his shoes and
imagine answering the same newbie questions day in and day out (questions
that are already answered in the FAQ). Being able to dish it out and then
taking it does not apply here. Jon's sometimes harsh replies have never
stooped as low as the comment that started this whole mess.

Jon, if you are still reading this...please stay. One word of advice
though, don't reply so quickly to everyone's questions. Some of the easier
questions can be answered by some of the list veterans, or the person may
simply solve it by themself given enough time. This way, you don't have to
put up with as much noise on the list.
