Jon -- This sounds like a gem of good/useful knowledge but one that, I at least, would
need to have articulated in more detail to be able to use (admittedly I am new to all
this).

Ok I can see the need for different ports. But what about config files and other ways
that multiple installations might/would conflict?

In particular, if this would let us try out new versions while keeping the old
"stable" one running as needed, then this would help us find bugs in the new versions
because we could have both versions to test against easily. Course you, no doubt,
have plenty to do and writing out how to do this might be un-fun compared to writing
code (I can relate). Might help give you some feedback from us users that you would
like though...?

BTW: I'm using JServ 1.1 with Apache 1.3.6 ( RH 6.0, JSDK 2.0, Blackdown 117v3) and
it seems to be working fine -- well, ok, my servlet hangs in the middle somewhere
only sometimes, but I'm betting that's my problem not a JServ/Apache conflict.
