sigh,

give me a break.

it is hard to configure because you didn't bother to follow the INSTALL
instructions which specifically state that you need to have Perl installed
and working.

how much more idiot proof can we make things? do you have some sort of
constructive suggestion on how we can force it so that people will read the
INSTALL document and follow the directions?

maybe i should add a "more INSTALL" at the top of the configure script.
