i started jserv manually and it is definitely running, the 8007 port is bound
and jserv is listening on it:

bash$ netstat -a | grep 8007
localhost.8007 *.* 0 0 0 0 LISTEN
localhost.8007 localhost.34629 32768 0 32768 0 TIME_WAIT

localhost.8007 localhost.34631 32768 0 32768 0 TIME_WAIT

besides, i can telnet to 8007 using localhost and when i type something
nonsensical i get "400 Bad request". surely, i misconfigured something but
what?
