it did. bindaddress was localhost. many thanks.
i also noticed that jserv appeared to be confused by the following settings.
given that jserv jvm runs on machine named jserv (192.1.2.3) and the
security.allowed=127.0.0.1,192.1.2.4 if i do "telnet jserv 8007" the telnet
hangs accepting any input. however, if i add the jserv's ip address to
security.allowed then jserv closes the telnet connection when "telnet jserv
8007" and send some garbage to it. i sort of expected that telnet connection
would not be accepted if i didn't have jserv's ip address in security.allowed.
should this be submitted as a bug?
